I'm a farmer! Okay, maybe I'm not quite a full fledged farmer, but I did pick my first harvest today.

And I'm not just talking about my first harvest of the season - I'm talking about my first harvest ever! In fact, when I walked out to look at my plants, I was a bit startled by those funny looking pods growing on the green bean plant. Then I realized that they're supposed to do that... grow food for me to eat of course!

My mom is going to scold me for having mostly forgotten the tons of green beans she grew when I was a kid. I'm told that I helped break the sharp little ends thousands of them. But as much as those green beans were part of the family, they weren't of my own doing. This little green bean harvest today existed entirely because I alone assisted in the magical process of plant growth (aka, gardening). I am the master of my universe! Or at least I have some influence over it.

After my day on the farm, I brought my harvest home (7 green beans) and tried to decide how I wanted to prepare them for my evening meal. As I was thinking, I ended up chomping them all down raw.
