Mango Cranberry Crumble

This was the dessert following my failed polenta dinner. Fortunately, dessert was a winner!

From what I can tell, a crumble is the same thing as a cobbler. It's a fruit mixture covered with sugar, flour, and butter.
There is apparently a well-known controversy that has ensued for generations in the south over whether a cobbler should be served hot or cold. I vote for hot if I just made them and cold if I have leftovers!
You can make a crumble with many different fruits, but apples and pears are the most common. Mangoes are in season, so I thought I'd go out on a limb and try them. Mix 5 cups of peeled and diced fruit with 3/4 cups of dried cranberries that have been soaked in warm water, 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/2 cup of sugar, a pinch of salt, and 2 tablespoons of flour. Put this mixture in to the baking dish of your choice. I like ramekins, so that's what I used.
To make the crust, mix 1 cup flour, 3/4 cup oatmeal (old-fashioned, not quick cooking), 1/2 cup brown sugar, a pinch of salt, and 8 tablespoons butter (one stick, unsalted, chilled, and cut in to little pieces). Mix these ingredients with a mixer or your hands just until it starts to form a dough that clumps, but still falls apart. Sprinkle this on the fruit. Bake it at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
