We're Surrounded by Cows!

When I saw Ron from Alchemy out front with a life sized, brightly colored cow sculpture early in the morning, I thought for sure I must not have woken up yet. But this was in fact the real thing. Terri Hughes-Oelrich, who runs the Albert Einstein Academy school garden program, and who is also an assistant professor of fine arts at City College, is heading up a fundraiser to improve the school lunch programs in San Diego. One thing she's doing now is getting the word out and raising money with the help of Daisy the cow.

After a week at the Station, Daisy was missing some of her parts that were within reach of children's hands, so Terri gave her a little TLC (and a little glue).

Once Daisy was back in full working order, this passing dog thought she looked just a little too real.

Daisy's mission...

...donations are appreciated. Terri and some of her students will be here for April's 30th on 30th to talk about the project.

Then when I looked across the street, I figured our block got tagged again, or that a gelato place was going in steps from my front door!

It's great to see this part of 30th getting better and better. And, of course, Elena loves gelato ; - )
