Plans for the New Year
Sea Rocket Bist... — Fri, 01/02/2009 - 11:19
We somehow let over a month go by since our last newsletter! As you might guess, the holidays kept us on our toes, but our plans for 2009 are also well underway. So here's a quick wrap-up of what you might have missed as well as highlights of what's coming up soon at the bistro.
New Year's Eve Celebration
Last night, over 140 of you decided to join us at Sea Rocket to ring in the new year! Our New Year's Prix Fixe Menu was a big hit so we might just have to add that Lamb Loaf onto our regular menu... Dennis, Mary, Chris, Christy, Connie, Kim, Diana and I all had a great time celebrating with you and a nice crowd stayed with us all the way up to midnight, so thanks for helping our first calendar year in business go out with a big bang!

New Hours...including a new HAPPY HOUR starting January 1st!
Happy Hour at Sea Rocket Bistro will be back with a vengeance, including more discounted food options than we had last summer, and the same $1 off all beers and wines from 5-6pm every day. We were opening at 5:30 most of the year but found that people wander in earlier during the winter, so until spring has sprung again, we're now officially open at 5pm.
January Movie Nights
We're thrilled to continue offering free flicks every week on Thursdays at 8pm, sponsored by Citizen Video in South Park. View the January schedule here.
Marine Life Protection Act Mixer
We'll be hosting an MLPA Mixer on Monday, January 12th from 5 to 7pm. Everyone is welcome to attend whether you're interested in the issues at hand or just interested in meeting new people and having a good time.
San Diego Coastkeeper Fundraiser
We'll be hosting a fundraiser organized by Coastkeeper on Wednesday, January 21st from 6:30-8:30pm. The cost will be $20, and will include a variety of starters off our menu. More details to follow in our regular blog.
Beer Lesson & Tasting
Marty Mendiola, Rock Bottom La Jolla's Brewmaster, will be doing a talk at Sea Rocket on making beer, covering the basics of ingredients and processes, and explain why beers are different colors and clarities. Of course we'll be tasting 4 or 5 beers along the way to understand exactly what he's talking about, along with some of our tasty starters that have been selected to pair well with them. This will take place on Thursday, January 29th between 6-8pm, but we'll post more details as we get closer. We're working on getting a cask beer system up and running, so we'll include that in this tasting assuming it's all set up.
