Sea Rocket Bist... — Wed, 10/21/2009 - 20:37
There have been lots of great menu additions, specials, and special events going on at the bistro lately, so here it is in short.
Upcoming Events
We hope you'll take advantage of our Halloween Prix Fixe Menu, Thursday Night Scary Movie, and Saturday Night Extended Happy Hour Costume Party next week, all a part of our spooky Halloween festivities!
We've also established some Game Night Specials- $3 draft beers during the game along with various food specials.
Save the Date! Friday, November 6th through Saturday, November 14th is the first ever annual San Diego Beer Week. On Sunday the 8th we'll be showing the documentary Beer Wars at noon, with a question and answer session with the creator and local brew master afterwards. On Thursday, November 12th we'll be participating in the Green Flash Progressive Beer Dinner, and we'll have our own Beer Pairing Prix Fixe Menu for the entire week in addition to our regular menu, so there will be plenty of opportunities to come out and celebrate our great San Diego beer!
And for something happening much sooner...A few of us from the restaurant will be carpooling up to Sage Mountain Farm on Monday the 26th of October for a farm tour with Phil Noble. Shoot me an email (dennis@searocketbistro.com) if you'd like to come. We'l meet at the restaurant at 10am.
Menu Additions
We've got Local Spiny Lobster on the menu in the form of a Creamy Lobster Dip- so far the response has been enthusiastic, so we'll probably keep it coming through the season. You might even catch a glimpse of John Law, our lobster trapper, some night if you get lucky!
Here are a few more things we put on the menu recently, and we've also had our tapa special Beef Sweetbreads wrapped in bacon lately.
Food Topics of Note
Here's a great article about using sardines for feed instead of food.
NPR story about how beef is raised differently in Europe than the US.
A bit about our shellfish supplier, Carlsbad Aqua Farm
More about the ranchers we get our meat from.
Just for Fun
Dennis is going to electrify a classic ride!
We're hoping that someday this chef gets on the air...and takes us with him!
