Megan Had a Little Lamb

We've been buying ground lamb and chicken from Megan for the past few months. Yesterday I made a video (go to end of this post to see it) at her farm which just north of Temecula, 70 miles from the restaurant. Even though we've been buying from her for awhile now and I've been told about how the animals are raised, it's not until seeing it today with my own eyes that I've come to truly believe it. Maybe all the pastoral poetry I've read on websites and on packages at supermarkets has made me skeptical. But today my skepticism receded. Look for more of Megan's meats on the menu at Sea Rocket soon and for more videos about how she cares for her animals. And one things I'd really like to see is for her to partner with a CSA like Phil's at Sage Mountain Farm to add meat to the box. Phil, what do you think? Add it to your CSA drop at Sea Rocket and it will be the first meat CSA in San Diego...

Thank you
Anonymous (not verified) — Fri, 07/10/2009 - 20:22Thank you so much for this video. My husband and I became vegetarians 1 1/2 years ago for several reasons of which one was that didn't like the abuse of the animals...from the beginning to the end and not wanting to eat corn fed antibiotic steroid beef or chicken...including eggs.
We want to start adding lamb and chicken back into our diet and we will definately be visiting this farm and look forward to meeting her and purchasing from her. Thank you for posting this. I have so many people asking me where to find humanely raised animals and this is it.

Beth (not verified) — Mon, 04/06/2009 - 23:36You guys got it right! I visited her farm a few days ago and was I ever impressed! Clean pens, nice pastures, healthy animals, and verifiable knowledge. I happened in on a day the were butchering for a custom buyer and got to watch the whole process. They even let me take pictures! I got a lesson in the different processes from Mr. Kwok as he was dispatching a cow!(USDA vs Custom) I bought a lamb on the spot and reserved a split side from the next steer. These folks know what they are doing! I could go on and on about my experience but I'll just say I will be doing business with them for quite some time and I'm glad you are too.
I like her too
Ira (not verified) — Sun, 05/24/2009 - 19:22I asked Dennis for his opinion of Megan and her farm and went to see her based on his reply. I am very happy with her service and the farm is nice too. she put me in direct contact with her pig farmer friend who was able to fill my needs perfectly. I was impressed with their straight forward apprach and successful cooperative efforts. Megan told me that Dennis is the one responsible for their Transparency Theory. I wish everyone did business like that. Dennis you are an inspiration and I'm coming down for dinner!
