A few years ago my interest in local food led me to find a neat group called the San Diego Mycological Society. I didn't find a lot of edible local mushrooms, but I did find a fun group of people who know more about those tasty little things than you can imagine. They're having a get together this Sunday at the Casa Del Prado in Balboa Park and we'll be there serving mushroomy food. Come say hi if you go for a stroll in the park that day. I went to this event a few years ago and it's really interesting to see samples of some of the more exotic mushrooms, learn about how mushrooms grow, and learn how to grow your own mushrooms.
