Changing Times

It's been a busy month at Sea Rocket Bistro since the new year! It might have something to do with our new president but regardless, you might see some new faces in the front as we bring on more help to accommodate all of our guests. At the same time, we're making some seasonal menu changes, such as our green starter salad, the sides on our fish plate, and the lobster risotto- the local spiny lobster is getting towards the end of it's season so in a few more weeks it will probably no longer be fished and available. Our thanks to John Law who has enabled us to serve this wonderful dish for the last 5 months! We will probably continue the risotto in some other form however, such as with market fish or our jumbo diver scallops (or prawns, if we can ever get a hold of some!)

Beer & Wine Update

If you've been in recently, you've probably noticed our cask beer setup. We held a Virgin Cask Tapping a couple of weeks ago to celebrate, and right now we've got a Stone Porter on cask- come check it out! We've also got a few new wines on our list, such as the Fleur Petite Sirah, a beautiful dry red wine from the North Coast, and the Ursa Viognier from the Sierra Foothills, a bit lighter and cleaner than the Cass varietal that it replaced (Cass is between vintages).

Upcoming Events

This Thursday, January the 29th, from 6-8pm we'll be hosting a Beer Tasting & Brewing Lesson with our friends at Rock Bottom La Jolla. We'll be sampling at least 5 totally different beers along with food pairings from our menu, so check out the details and give us a call if you'd like to come!

Valentine's Day Prix Fixe - on Saturday, February 14th we'll be offering a 4-course prix fixe meal to help you celebrate your romantic evening. Christy's got an amazing menu of totally unique dishes planned- things that we've never before served at the bistro, special just for this one night! As with New Year's Eve, we will be taking reservations, so call us at 619-255-7049 or e-mail elena@searocketbistro.com.

Lightning Brewery Prix Fixe Dinner - on Thursday, February 19th, we'll be hosting a dinner similar to the Stone Brewing Dinner we held in December. Different beers, different menu, but hopefully the same wonderful table full of people! That event was a huge success so we plan to continue hosting these beer (and eventually also wine) pairing meals. It's a great way to meet the brewers in person and get to know our local craft beer scene even better. Details will be announced in a separate blog next week.
