Celebrate the Trees!

Okay, it's not quite an urban forest, but we did get a few beautiful trees planted in front of Sea Rocket the other day. If you want to give them a hug like Elena did to welcome them to the block, join us on Wednesday, September 16th at 5pm for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a cocktail hour at the bistro. We'll be serving up some complimentary Sea Rocket starters and offering a Shochu Green Drink Special for 5 bucks. Of course the rest of our food and beverage menus will be available as well. At 5pm, we will gather on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant for the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony including county supervisor Ron Roberts on behalf of the county and Gordon Carrier of Carrier Johnson Architects and the San Diego Architectural Foundation. Councilman Todd Gloria may also attend.

Since 1996, over 200 trees have been planted in North Park. Our trees were part of the most recent effort by North Park Main Street and a total of 50 were planted along 30th and Upas. They are a mix of Chinese Flame trees and Crape Myrtle trees. Come thank Liz and the others for making North Park a little bit greener.

Super stoked to see these get
Tyler (not verified) — Wed, 09/02/2009 - 11:20Super stoked to see these get in the ground. This will help really produce a beautiful tree corridor down an already amazing 30th street. I hope all the trees survive the initial transplanting shock. Such a great use of money!
